WELCOME TO THE SILVER LAKE ASSOCIATION
This committee has been formed to review the assessment process and work with the towns to improve communication and help keep our overall taxes in reasonable.
Leslie Kunze, Chairwoman of the HOD Committee, Betsy Kent, VP of SLA and Bob Capurso, President of SLA present the 2022 HOD award and new banner to Evelyn Militello and Tom McEvoy of Sherman Road.
The gardens at Evelyn's property use a variety of annuals and perennials that help with soil management and attract essential pollinators.
Evelyn's name will be added to the HOD plaque that is displayed at the Silver Lake Marine
NOMINATIONS FOR 2023 DUE BY JUNE 30TH 2023. GO TO: Important Forms (silverlakeassociation-wny.org)
Greetings fellow Lakers,
This is Bob Capurso, President of the Silver Lake Association. We are blessed to have renewed forms of communication via Facebook and the SLA web site. Our thanks go out to Michelle Hess, a long time Laker and former SLA Secretary, for taking the reins on this effort. She has updated both the Facebook page and web site to once again be able to post pertinent information and emergency notifications if necessary.
The SLA tackles many issues and celebrations around the lake each year. We have a top-notch group of people who selflessly give their time to volunteer for these events. Some issues like water quality under Frank Bright and Kelly Paganelli are being constantly monitored and reported on. We are also currently working on revising our Mooring and Docking Laws to address the length of docks allowed by camps, campsites and businesses.
Another issue we have been working on is the Waste Management’s poor roll out of the trash totes. We were not given any heads-up nor were we asked for our advice when this was proposed. We found out about it when everyone else did and have had at least four meetings with the County and Waste Management to no avail. We continue to push for revisions to trash pick- up around the lake in areas where it is difficult, if not impossible to get the totes to the pick -up points. If you have questions about the WM roll out, need trash schedules, or have any questions about Waste Management’s role in picking up your trash, recyclables, or bulk items, please contact Jim Bragg at the County Planning Office at (585) 786-5135.
Our Ring of Fire this year was outstanding. Many thanks to all those who struck their flares and lit their LEDs to create a wonderful show of unity and patriotism. The Boat Parade drew 17 boats on the 4th of July. Many thanks to Sheriff Dave Richardson for leading the way and Sally Capurso for pulling it together.
Upcoming events include the Water Quality Team (CLEAN) Golf Tournament on July 30th at the Silver Lake Country Club. The event is SOLD OUT! However, we are still in need of Baskets to raffle off so if Tracts or individuals can see their way clear to put together a basket for them, that would be great. Contact person for this event is Joe Caputo (jvcaputo54@gmail.com) and for basket donations please contact Karen Norton (karennort@yahoo.com).
I thank you for allowing me to serve the Lake Community and strive to create a family atmosphere at Silver Lake which we have always been known for. Have a blessed and safe summer. If you need more information, please contact your tract director. They have all the latest information from our monthly meetings.
God Bless,
Bob Capurso, SLA President
Thank you to the Koziel Family for your years of dedication to Silver Lake
